Collegiate Pathways Founder Participates in STEM Options Day at Penn State

(Orlando, Fla.) – Collegiate Pathways, Inc. (CPI) Founder Laine Powell, M.Ed., MSM was recently invited to participate in a day of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) Options Day interactive workshop at her alma mater Penn State. Held on May 12th, the annual event was developed to specifically to engage seventh grade girls in STEM-related topics and inspire their future career interests.
“As a graduate of Penn State, it was very rewarding to be able to participate in this workshop. My vision for establishing Collegiate Pathways and our signature program Tech Sassy Girlz was to empower and encourage underrepresented middle and high school girls to pursue STEM fields through college preparation, career readiness, and mentoring. Being able to serve as a role model and provide encouragement to these girls and others is so critical,” said Powell.
The STEM Options Day workshop included 17 different sessions led by successful women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields from organizations such as AceApplications, LLC, BB&T, Geiger, Lockheed Martin, and the U.S. Department of Defense.
